Here is Brattleboro (the locals, by the way, have been known to say "Brat" as, you guessed it, an abbreviated way of referring to the rather mouthful-ish town name [Personal note, here. I have to say that I find the aforementioned shortened name kind of obnoxious. Not because of the connotation of the word brat, but more just the snappish sound. One guy's humble opinion. {That said, and since you asked, I'd prefer the rather Franco-fied "Le Boro." Good, right? Huh?}]). Anyway, the town is located in the southeast corner of Vermont. Right on the banks of the Connecticut and West rivers.
To get here, you have a number of options: driving, flying, train-ing, walking, cycling.

Driving: Interstate 91 goes from where it meets I-95 in New Haven, CT up to Canada. We are important enough to have three (yes, count them, three. Ha! stick that in your pipe and smoke it, NYC) exits on this venerable highway. To get to downtown, exit 1 or 2 are best.
Flying: The most convenient airport is Bradley International Airport (BDL) near Hartford. It is a very straight and relatively easy drive up I-91 that takes about 1:15. The drive is pretty and flat (which is important if the weather is bad as Albany, NY and Manchester, NH have airports as well but the drive is more vertical and narrow).
Train-ing: The Amtrak Vermonter allows you to come all the way from DC. The train station (literally a hole in the wall {this sounds like a joke, but you need to see it to understand; it's actually a nice hole - honest}) is right underneath the Art Museum and is a 2 minute walk to Main street.
Walking: Something of a trek to walk here from the Appalachian trail but not impossible. One could easily walk across either the Rt. 119 or Rt. 9 bridges from New Hampshire so... um, you got that going for you... I guess.
Cycling: Brattleboro is in the corner of the state so you could make a day's work of riding from Massachusetts, New Hampshire, or even New York (although that'd be something of a haul).
