Brattleboro is not a slice of heaven. It is a town in southeastern Vermont that has more or less equal parts working class, farming, hippie, and hipster constituencies.
Although not a slice of heaven, one need only live through one winter to realize that it certainly isn't hell either as, if it were, just imagine all the unlikely/impossible things that would be going on throughout the world as Brattleboro (standing in for hell in this 2nd conditional yimmer yammer) has certainly frozen over a number of times.
This is not to say that Brattleboro isn't great. Indeed, having lived in 10 states in America and 3 other countries (Austria, Japan, and Poland), I'd go so far as to say that Brattleboro is my favorite place to live.
